Position Description:

Provide day-to-day leadership for all Engineering/Operations services provided to the client over the assigned region.  This function supports the client in the operation of its critical environments, office buildings, retail branches, and associated equipment by performing PM work, managing vendor services, and supporting Facility Management in the delivery of their services all while ensuring 100% uptime of the client’s business functions.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Serve as a subject matter expert supporting the technician team in the delivery of maintenance, project, and construction related activities supporting facility operations.

Work collaboratively with the Regional Facility Management to ensure that the Engineering/Operations services provided meet and exceed the client’s expectations and SLA requirements.

Oversee the planning and management of the budget, allowing for appropriate control and utilization of clients’ resources. Recommend and provide cost/benefit analysis for repairs and improvements (expense and capital) for inclusion in the annual budget, or multi-year capital plans, as required.

Ensure that technicians understand the design and operational aspects of the facility’s systems and equipment. Must be able to immediately recognize system shortcomings and respond to operational and emergency situations in support of the Regional teams, if necessary.

Management duties shall also include, but are not limited to, the execution of HR related duties such as employee selection, appraisals, and recognition; recommending salary, promotional, disciplinary, termination, and other personnel actions.

Provide for training and career development opportunities pursuant to expanding the capabilities of the engineering/operations team in the areas of: personal safety; mechanical, electrical, and Fire/life safety systems operational proficiency; computer and documentation skills, etc.

Serve as the primary resource supporting the Supply Chain team in the sourcing, rebidding, vendor management, quality control, etc., for all engineering/operations related outsourced services.

Maintain effective communication with all external and internal customers, including Clients, Facility Management, and Engineering/Operations staff.


Position Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or equivalent experience directing and managing a Facility Engineering department.

3-5 years direct experience in managing a Critical Facility environment or team with experience in Critical Facility engineering, design, and operations.

7-10 years experience in facility/plant engineering and maintenance management and supervision experience.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to communicate well in both oral and written reports.

Available for some overnight travel is expected for this role with the exact amount to be determined and which is subject to change.

High level of professionalism and capable of preparing detailed client reports, presenting at client meetings of various sizes, serving as a corporate resource in attracting new business related to Critical Facilities, and in general, representing the company and client well in all aspects of the role.

Proficient in basic computer applications and software such as MS Office applications.

Familiar with design software such as CADD; ability to read, comprehend, and offer technical advice on system plans/drawings where needed.

Proficient at technical writing to support the team in the delivery of such services.
